For the first “Run” of the New Year – in view of the vagaries of January’s weather – the Members of the Burnley and Pendle MGOC decided to reprise their very successful visit to the delightful Clitheroe Golf Club and,at Frank and Janet’s invitation,
Rain, wind and, not least, snow tend to discourage MG adventures so, when Saturday December 14th brought our Christmas Dinner at the Old Stone Trough Hotel, we were more than content to make merry in front of their new log burning stove.
“We’ll meet you at Ireby Farm,” they all said; so, as Fred tells us, this month’s run started at Ireby Farm Café instead of the Old Stone Trough. Neil and Janet were kind enough to go to the OST just in case anyone turned up unexpectedly. There were two guest this month, Robert (Rob) and Luba, who came with Fred and Betty, as they were next door neighbours and also live next door to Eric.
Fred and Betty laid on a treat for the first – and very wet – Sunday of October. It certainly was not a “hoods down” day! But it vividly showed us the contrasts of rural and industrial Lancashire and was clearly the result of imaginative and meticulous planning.
