Spread Eagle Sawley
The weather being dreary, the roads being salty and the Members being hungry once more the Burnley and Pendle cut to the chase, missing out the “scenic run”, and met up at the Spread Eagle in Sawley. If we carry on like this much longer – and the March 3rd Run promises to be more food than driving orientated – we may need to open up a Burnley and Pendle branch of a well known dieting organization. Though there are some who might say the secretary shouldn’t say that as should …
Mick and Barbara had sought out a very suitable venue and it proved excellent. We were seated all together, including Eric, in our own area, cozily able to chat, and eat a good lunch while watching the increasingly vile weather sweep down from the Trough of Bowland … A good deal of that chat was about our forthcoming activities which, despite the culinary comments, are very much about driving our MGs.
The indefatigable Mick and Barbara are leading a party to Cockermouth and the Trout Hotel in March, and returning, with Geof, to the Lakes on Country Lane Tours Credit Crunch trip in April while, at the same time, another group are going with Roger to Chesterfield for their Shakedown Run. May brings the Stratford Festival of Motoring, suggested by David and Miranda, for another Club trip and July another of Country Lane Tours’ journeys, this time to Wales and the Welsh Borders, and more to come later in the year. A good few miles should pass under our wheels this year! Thanks to Mick and Barbara for arranging an excellent lunch and continuing our fine social tradition.
