Cartmel and the Uplands Garden Resturant
On a bright Sunday morning, four MGs left the Old Stone Trough Hotel en route to our favourite coffee stop, Ireby Farm, near Kirby Lonsdale.
There, they were met by a further eight cars; then it was into the café for refreshments and a bit of catching up! Afterwards, Irv and Gail led us away, crossing the M6 Motorway and on, through Grange over Sands, to our destination at Cartmel.
After parking on the racecourse, we all had a couple of hours to wander around town. We made a visit to the microbrewery, various shops, and the craft fair in the village hall and, inevitably, a visit to the local hostelry.
Next, it was onto our lunch stop at The Uplands Garden Restaurant. However, some cars had to park down a slope on the front lawn, which was still quite wet from the storm during the night but, the landlord assured us, there were plenty of 4x4s around in case of problems leaving… After an excellent meal, the time came to make our way home, so we said our goodbyes until the next time.
Thanks to Irv and Gail for a great day out and Roger for this write-up.
