Harrogate & Mathewsons Shows
Nevertheless, we managed to squeeze in a couple of the summer staple of two of this year’s more important shows. The first was the Harrogate MG and MGOC Northern National show at Nidderdale which, despite a somewhat dreary weather forecast, was very much a hoodsdown, gazebo and picnic with, all the while, the band playing sort of day. Richard and Angela were able to show their dog – who gained a rosette – and there were many fabulous and rare motor cars to pore over. All in all, organised with Harrogate’s usual panache. Later in the month a group set off, in the same direction, to visit the Great Yorkshire Showground and Mathewsons Live. Roger said “ … some of our members had a great day out at Mathewsons Live at Harrogate, the show being held on the Yorkshire Show Ground. The Mathewsons are famous for their Bangers & Cash TV series. There were around a thousand cars on show, along with trucks, rally cars and many other automotive exhibits. The rally stage was particularly exciting and there was a live auction of one hundred cars, motor cycles and memorabilia – all on show – though unfortunately, (or maybe luckily …) none of our members got their hands in their pockets! A fabulous day out with perfect weather and one for the diary next time round.” Keep an eye on the website and our new facebook page for news of future events.
