Christmas 2023
Saturday, December 9th brought us the long awaited night of the Christmas dinner at the Old Stone Trough and, of course, took place on one of the stormiest evenings of the year!
Nevertheless, once we were safely within the hotel there was a — very — welcoming bar and glowing log fires. With multiple family commitments, holidays and, sadly, illness there had been some concerns that our usual festivities and stopover might not be a practical proposition but, despite absences, in the event 11 of us were still able to meet up. The Old Stone Trough kindly gave us a small private function room for the evening and served an excellent meal — their attentive young staff variously arrayed as Santa and his elves … and one or two of us didn’t let the side down, either. Thoughtfully, Janet and Neil again produced a presentation box of beautiful chocolates for each one of us and the evening ended only too soon with after dinner drinks and coffee. After a very comfortable overnight stay, we all breakfasted together and then went our separate ways — thankfully into a morning graced by much less inclement weather.
We will meet again in the New Year for lunch on the 7th of January and on the 16th for the AGM and January Meeting. “
