Pendle Run 2017
Burnley &Pendle M.G. Owners 25th Pendle Run 4th June 2017
A special occasion demanded a theme, so for our 25th Pendle Run, we chose silver to wrap the raffle prizes and our celebratory chocolate mementos and hoped that today the sun would shine. However! Just as the 53 cars left The Old Stone Trough a shower descended and we headed towards Thornton with our fingers crossed. Our route kept to the smaller country roads and as the rain stopped we had crossed the Leeds Liverpool Canal and having had lovely views of Malham Cove arrived in the picturesque village of Malham.Evidently much admired by Bill Bryson who gives it rave revues! The route continued on with views of the Three Peaks, crossing the Settle Carlisle railway and a stunning view of the iconic Ribblehead viaduct before arriving in the village of Dent. Many cars stopping for an excellent selection of refreshments before continuing through the countryside via Cowan Bridge and into the Forest of Bowland finishing back at the Old Stone Trough. A lovely scenic run with pretty villages, open views across the Lancashire/Yorkshire countryside and all enhanced by the appearance of sunny weather.
A good selection of M.G.’s took part but we also enjoyed seeing a fine mix of other classic cars. All of them much cherished but more importantly driven. We then had a convivial meal during which cheques were presented out of our funds raised to North West Blood Bikes and the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
Our primary aim is to share our passion for cars and our love of the countryside and we thank all those who took part with their good natured companionship and generosity which enables us to make the charitable donations.
The provisional date for our 26th Pendle run next year being Sunday 3rd June 2018, we look
