Zoom & Local MG Outings
The second “Zoom” get together of the year saw 12 members participate. Some arrived later rather than sooner. Always remember to allow Zoom access to microphone and camera in your settings!Non-the less this was a useful get together with several anecdotes about steam locomotives, Jaguar cars and of course, MG’s naturally. As nine of the team will be away at the Inn on the Lake in October for a two night break, the next meeting should be full of their experiences in and around Cumbria.
On a personal note the MG was taken for a run to Hellifield railway station where the station café provides an excellent full English breakfast at a very reasonable rate. We arrived at about 10 o’clock to be greeted by the sight of a large number of train enthusiasts and on the far side of the station stood a rather elegant steam locomotive (for the cognoscenti: No.35018 Name plate: British India Line, Merchant Navy Class) being prepared for a trip on the famous Settle to Carlisle line.
Once the train departed so did most people from the café meaning there was plenty of room to enjoy breakfast.
On a breezy bright morning in September a group of six intrepid explorers headed to Grimwith Reservoir between Hebden and Greenhow. An excellent location for a picnic and a good walk around the reservoir with marvellous views across the Yorkshire Dales. Just the tonic needed to cheer us up amidst the gloomy prognosis from government.
