Tour of Ribble Valley, Roman Museum and Toby Inn
Richard tells us about our last Run of the season – next month’s “Run” will be to the Old Stone Trough, Christmas Dinner and to meet up with Santa …
Our monthly Run on Sunday Nov 4th had quite a mix of marques. We left The Old Stone Trough with three MGs, a Mercedes, a Volvo and a SKODA.
Heading through Barnoldswick we took a left turn over to Middop – on a very dirty road I might add – leading us to Rimmington, via Martin Top. Chatburn, Clitheroe and then Waddington were on our route, which led us to our coffee stop at Bashall Barn.
Here we met with two more MGs and another German – a BMW.
After coffee (er, and cakes) and pleasant chat, we were off to Bashall Eaves, Cow Ark and Easington, enjoying good views which would have been even better had the weather been kinder: a quick stop was needed to put the hoods up. We made our way to Ribchester – via Slaidburn, Newton, Dunsop Bridge and the steep climb over Jeffrey Hill – where we visited the Roman Museum. We enjoyed an interesting hour, or more, there before a convivial lunch was taken at the Toby Inn, Edgworth. It was good to see another member Eric, who came for lunch, as he has not been too well of late and was unable to join us on the Run.
A big thank you to Geoff for an enjoyable run – and to Richard for this report.
